What happens in our brains when we keep reaching for our smartphones? The documentary "Die Dopamin-Falle" explores the role our reward system plays and the mechanisms social media platforms use to keep us engaged for as long as possible. What starts as a quick glance at the screen can, in extreme cases, become compulsive.
But who should be held responsible: the users themselves or the companies behind these platforms? Do we need stricter regulations, or more media literacy? In the debate, young people explore these questions with experts, discussing mental health, business interests, data privacy and media law.
