Energy transition with renewable energies requires courage to experiment and committed people who actively shape the future of energy supply. How can sustainable energy be produced collectively? For example, through the construction and operation of photovoltaic or wind power plants. Citizen-driven energy plays a vital role in the expansion of renewables. Citizen energy cooperatives and municipalities are taking this into their own hands. The added value remains in the region, creating jobs and strengthening the local economy. In this way, community-oriented business, participation, and climate protection go hand in hand.

This panel will highlight energy pioneers, citizen wind turbines, shared electricity for all, and Germany’s smallest municipal utility. Positive examples show how a sustainable future can be created through the engagement of many. What are the potentials of regional energy supply? And how does it all begin?
