The future cannot be predicted – but it can be explored. That is exactly where EUROPA 2057 begins. This eight-part science series combines current research and insights from futures studies with narrative visions of the future, looking three decades ahead. Each episode begins with a fictional glimpse into everyday life in 2057: an advertisement for designer babies, a robot as a member of the family, or a job posting for a lunar colony. What initially appears to be science fiction is rooted in real developments in science, technology, and society.
Leading scientists then put these visions into perspective: What is already possible today? Which breakthroughs are realistic? Where are the technological, ethical, or political limits? And which decisions are already shaping what Europe could look like in 2057?
