Festivaleröffnung: Ab jetzt fliegen die Funken in Halle!

The 8th SILBERSALZ Science & Media Festival will begin with a festive opening ceremony and a lecture by Dr Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim, who inspires enthusiasm for science.

A doctor of chemistry, she is one of the most prominent figures in science communication in Germany. She rose to fame through her YouTube series maiLab (funk), presented Quarks (WDR) and regularly appears in the ZDF series Terra X. In 2021, she launched her own show, Maithink X – Die Show, on ZDFneo. Alongside her bestseller Die kleinste gemeinsame Wirklichkeit (The Smallest Common Reality), the fourth volume of her children's book series Bibibiber hat da mal 'ne Frage (Bibibiber Has a Question) is due to be published in October 2025. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Federal Cross of Merit and the Grimme Prize.
