Speaking & Listening

Democracy requires listening as a practiced skill. The climate crisis, migration, digitalization, and geopolitical tensions in Europe create uncertainty and overwhelm. As we search for answers, public discourse is becoming harsher, divisions are hardening, and change fatigue is spreading. But how can we look to the future amid all these challenges? How can we build bridges despite divisions and differences of opinion—or at least better endure what separates us? And how can we find new strength to work together toward solutions?

The dialogue format Sprechen & Zuhören by Mehr Demokratie e. V. invites participants to explore these questions in depth. Based on the idea of a “democracy of care,” the event emphasizes listening and sharing personal stories. This creates a safe space for encounters and understanding, from which new perspectives can emerge. Everyone is warmly invited to participate.
