Staying Active
Healthy and Mentally Sharp through Physical Activity and Sports
Keynote, Participation format
Exercise does not only keep the body fit, but also the brain.
Physical activity is much more than just high-performance sport. It strengthens both the body and the mind, promotes mental fitness, and can contribute to health and well-being at every stage of life. But how much exercise do we actually need – and what effects do different activities have?
Junior Professor Frank Stojan explains how exercise and training affect physical and mental health. He places a special focus on the brain: What role does physical activity play in mental fitness and resilience against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s? And what can be done from a young age to stay physically and mentally fit for as long as possible?
It’s not just about working out at the gym or a sports club. Physical activity in everyday life can also make a big difference. Practical movement segments and simple exercises encourage you to try out what you’ve learned right away – and to incorporate more physical activity into your daily routine.
