The Region Debates: Values, Knowledge, Change – What Moves the Region?

At SILBERSALZ Festival 2025, a new debate format premieres: The Region Debates, initiated by Science Cube. Together with Ulrike Zimmermann (ZEIT Publishing Group), it invites open discussion on the role of science in structural change in Central Germany.

Instead of a traditional panel discussion, the format uses an innovative matching principle: people with different viewpoints engage in direct dialogue, exchanging experiences, perspectives, and arguments. The goal is to build bridges between opposing positions and explore new forms of understanding.

After the festival premiere, The Region Debates goes on tour! Starting in November, together with the mobile debate box, it will stop every two weeks at six universities in the region, bringing dialogue to both students and local citizens alike.
